Timo Koski: Arthur Cayley, Independent Causation and Rothman’s Pie

We discuss a representation of the interaction networks for independent causes and show how this was introduced in the 19th century by Arthur Cayley. This is applied to give probabilistic models corresponding to Rothman's pie in genetic epidemiology.
