In this talk I will discus recent results on the nearby Lagrangian conjecture. I will start by giving an introduction to symplectic geometry and describe what the nearby Lagrangian conjecture is about. Then I discuss precious results and a recent result by Abouzaid and me. To understand the idea of the proof of this result I then shortly discus each of the subjects: Morse theory, Conley index theory, Floer homology, Thom-spaces, Thom-spectra and Viterbo functoriality. At the end I sketch the proof of the result.
