Abstract: Numerical methods for time harmonic scattering (e.g. BEM and FEM), and analytical/asymptotic methods typically have little in common. In this talk I will present a new formulation for the scattering from scatterers with edges that is based on analytical formulas for diffraction. This can lead to numerical methods of an entirely different breed than the classical ones.
