Abstract: Sparse bounds have proved an effective way to obtain weighted norm inequalities with optimal dependency on the characteristic constants of the weights. We study such bounds for Fourier integral and pseudodifferential operators with rough phases and amplitudes. We then discuss why the method of sparse bounds may have been so widely applicable.
