In a recent paper, Geiss, Keller and Oppermann defined higher analogues of triangulated categories, called n-angulated categories. For n=3, these are just triangulated categories. In this talk, we shall see that the Grothendieck group of such a category classifies its n-angulated subcategories; in the triangulated case, this is a classical result by Thomason. The talk is based on joint work with Marius Thaule.
