Peter Hansbo: Aspects of approximation with cut finite elements

I will give an overview of recent results concerning approximation using cut finite elements, i.e., when the geometry (boundary or interface) is approximated without fitting the finite element mesh. The geometry is then allowed to cut through the finite elements and the solution is glued together across interfaces, or to the boundary values, using Lagrange multipliers or by Nitsche's method.
