Panagiotis Souganidis: Introductory program: A overview of stochastic homogenization (cont.)

I will present an overview of the theory of homogenization of first-and second-order partial differential equations in stationary ergodic environments. I will discuss examples, the probabilistic setup, the general difficulties and differences from periodic media. I will explain in detail the classical linear theory and then describe the recent progress for nonlinear problems.
