Pablo Shmerkin: New results on the dimensions of distance sets

Abstract: I will present some recent progress on the study of the dimensions of the distance sets of planar sets of Hausdorff dimension larger than $1$. In particular, I will present an almost solution of Falconer's distance set conjecture for sets of equal Hausdorff and packing dimension.
