Abstract: During your Master's you may have encountered some equations that originate from fluid mechanics (for example, during your PDEs classes). Maybe you wondered where did they get these conditions from? Or why this particular equation is interesting? I may have answers. I will explain some basic concepts of fluid mechanics and highlight some interesting problems, that illustrate how mathematical toolbox is used in applied problems and why it may be useful to consider neighboring fields in natural sciences while doing mathematics. In particular, the talk may be of use for those interested in PDEs/regularity theory.
