Abstract: This talk is about systems where, for example, rotators are coupled in a sequence of n, with the rotator at one end being driven strongly. At the other end, some friction acts. Such systems show extremely slow dissipation. One can view this as an explicit form of "breathers" or, as the sliding of a system in metastable states along a cylinder of periodic solutions. This is work with Noe Cuneo and Gene Wayne.
