Fabian Portmann: The ionization conjecture in quantum mechanics

It is a long-standing open problem in quantum mechanics to derive a sharp upper
bound on the number of electrons a nucleus can bind. I will discuss the problem in detail
and try to give an overview of the existing results in the literature.
