Abstract: In this talk, I will present joint work in progress with David Rydh on the construction and classification of certain wildly ramified stacky modifications in positive characteristic. These stacks provide a natural framework for understanding wild ramification and play a central role in ongoing work towards a Nagata-compactification theorem for algebraic stacks with finite stabilizers. Beyond this, they offer new tools for studying classical problems in algebraic geometry where wild ramification occurs. The goal of this talk is to illustrate, through examples, how such wild stacky modifications can be constructed and classified.
