Afshin Goodarzi: On the Hilbert Series of Monomial Ideals

To every squarefree monomial ideal I in a polynomial ring one can associate a hypergraph by considering each minimal monomial generator as an edge. It was shown by Paul Renteln, and Ferarello and Fröberg that if I is quadratic, then the Hilbert series of I can be computed from the so called edge induced polynomial of the hypergraph. In this talk which is based on my recent work, I will generalize this result by showing that the same result holds for any squarefree monomial ideal.
