Xudong Sun: Towards geometric understanding of training deep neural networks

Geometric interpretations of statistical regression models will be reviewed, from linear regression to generalized additive model (GAM). Deep neural network will be modeled as recursive GAM. Some preliminary dynamic process description of the training process of neural network will be discussed.
