The purpose of the talk is to investigate the following.
Let R be a rational cubic fibered surface, with two fibers F_1, F_2. It is then possible to double these fibres via logarithmic transformation and obtain an Enriques surface E? Or can one take the double cover of R branhced at F_1 and F_2 and obtain a K3 surface K.
Furthermore, what is the relation between K and E, is the former the universal cover of the latter? Obviously not always, but then what?
