Abstract:
One of the most discussed books worldwide since 2013 is the monograph “Capital in the Twenty-First Century” by Thomas Piketty.
The main theme of the book is the distribution of income and wealth, and the analysis as well as the conclusions has been widely debated in the general press as well as in the economic literature. This talk will present some mathematical aspects of the Piketty arguments. No previous knowledge of economics is assumed and the mathematics will be on an elementary undergraduate level.
