PhD course in algebraic geometry at MDU/Zoom

Olof Bergvall and Lisa Nicklasson will give a PhD course in Algebraic Geometry at Mälardalens University (MDU). The course starts on Nov 19 and continues in the spring of 2026. It is possible to participate via Zoom. It is intended for PhD students with diverse backgrounds.

Contents

• Review of basics in commutative algebra
• Affine and projective varieties, in particular curves
• Intersection theory, linear systems, Bézout's theorem, projective duality, Cayley–Bacharach's theorem, quartic curves, cubic surfaces
• An independent project
