In the 1920s and 1930s, the mathematicians and physicists Friedman, Lemaître, Robertson and Walker independantely worked on what would later be called the Standard Model of cosmology. It is one of the earliest and easiest examples of spacetimes satisfying Einstein's equation of General Relativity.
The aim of this talk is to present these model universes and show how their mathematical properties lead to the notion of Big Bang.
