ABSTRACT: Tropical varieties can be thought of as degenerations of algebraic varieties. I will give an introduction to the Chow cohomology and Hodge theory of tropical varieties, and focus especially on two interesting cases: Mikhalkin's smooth tropical varieties and simplicial polytopes.
