Jonas Bergström: Cohomology of a Picard modular surface

In joint work with Gerard van der Geer we have studied the cohomology of local systems on the Picard modular surface of Eisenstein type and the related modular forms.  Our main technique is to make counts of points over finite fields of small cardinality using the interpretation of  this surface as a moduli space of degree three covers of the projective line.
