Jon Pål Hamre: Schubert coefficients of matroids

We study a connection between Matroid theory, Schubert calculus and Toric geometry. In particular we introduce a family of matroid invariants called Schubert coefficients defined as the number of point in the intersection of certain subvarieties of a complex Grassmannian. The goal of the talk will be to describe Schubert coefficients of a subclass of matroids called sparse paving matroids.
