Abstract:
Continued fractions has a several thousand year history and has been developing for a long time. The breakthrough in the subject would not come until late 16th century. Many of history's great mathematicians has been involved in the development of continued fractions. Euclid, Euler and Lagrange are names that most mathematicians have heard. This paper will prove some of the theorems of continued fractions regarding real and irrational numbers. The final part will show a method to solve Pell's equation.
