We discuss first the relation between Coulomb gas and the equilibrium measure (semi-classical limit), which is shown to be the result of an obstacle problem. This part builds on work of K. Johansson. The Kinderlehrer-Stampacchia-Caffarelli theory applies, and it shows that the equilibrium measure is characterized by its support. Then we mention the process of adding more particles to the gas, which corresponds to Laplacian growth (or backward Hele-Shaw flow).
