Abstract
We show that generalised geometry provides an elegant rewriting of the action and symmetries of the full \(N=1\) \(D=10\)supergravity theory (in general also with a super Yang-Mills sector) up to all orders in fermions. Surprisingly, even after expressing the result in terms of classical variables one obtains a simplification of the usual formulas which have been around since the 80’s. This in particular confirms that generalised geometry provides a natural set of variables for studying the massless level of string theory. In addition this formulation naturally suggests particular limits of the theory — one leading to a topological dilatonic supergravity (with a known BV formulation) and another to a theory with finitely many degrees of freedom but with the symmetry structure of the full supergravity. This is a joint work with Julian Kupka and Charles Strickland-Constable.
