Eric Friedlander: Support varieties for linear algebraic groups

We consider representations of a linear algebraic group G over a field k of characteristic p > 0.  We discuss techniques of algebraic geometry which extend earlier investigations of representations of finite groups and more general finite group schemes.  In this very wild context, we formulate interesting classes of infinite dimensional representations with special properties.
