Christopher Borger: Systems of polynomial equations and their combinatorics

Associating to a polynomial its so-called Newton polytope can
be used to translate various questions about systems of polynomial
equations into a combinatorial setting. I am going to present an
introduction to the combinatorial treatment of the question about the
number of solutions of a system and about the description of systems
where solutions coincide
