Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) is a popular diagnostic method for testing the mechanical integrity of windings in electrical machines or power transformers/reactors. In this talk will I use spectral perturbation theory to perform a sensitivity analysis of FRA. I will show that there is a simple connection between changes of the resonant energy associated to different eigenmodes of the system and changes in its response function, and speculate about practical applications of this connection. If time permits, I will also briefly comment on a possible application of time-dependent perturbation theory to this problem.
