This essay is aimed to be an introduction to homological algebra and Hochschild complexes for those who are familiar with only basic abstract algebra. The first part deals with the fundamentals in homological algebra, the second part introduces Hochschild complexes and Hochschild (co)homology, for associative algebras over rings, and ends up with computing (by two methods) the Hochschild (co)homology of R[x] = K[x]/x².
