This is a rather broad course on analytic function defined in a half-plane or in the unit disc, which have a sign restriction on the real or imaginary part. This comparably mild assumption has surprisingly long-going consequences.
In the course we discuss several ways of representing (and characterizing) these functions as well as their properties. Moreover, we give exampels on applications (from theoretical to practical) in different areas, such as operator theory, differential equations, moment problem, system theory, electromagnetics and material sciences.
The course is thought to be a broad course in analysis, touching several different areas, but also taking up aspects that are not familiar to PhD-students who already have experience with these kind of functions.
Prerequisites are some basic complex analysis and knowledge corresponding Advanced Real Analysis I (= basic measure theory and basic functional analysis).
