In 1960's, Ehrhart proved that for a lattice polytope P of dimension d, the enumerative function counting the lattice points contained in the dilated polytope nP is a polynomial in n of degree d with constant term 1. We call this polynomial the Ehrhart polynomial of P. In this talk, after introducing Ehrhart polynomials of lattice polytopes and their fundamental properties, I'll present some results on the characterization of Ehrhart polynomials in some special cases.
