Cluster algebras were introduced by Fomin and Zelevinsky almost 10 years ago, in order to give a combinatorial framework for phenomena occurring for algebraic groups. In order to ”categorify” a class of cluster algebras we introduced, in work with Buan, Marsh, Reineke and Todorov, the cluster categories associated with finite quivers without oriented cycles. They have been used to get feedback on cluster algebras, and have led to further generalizations. The concepts will be illustrated through simple examples.
