Stochastic methods have been present in complex analysis for several decades and although they have led to a surprisingly varied range of results, they have not received the attention they deserve. The main reason for this state of affairs might be the fact that - in contract to classical potential theory, which can be totally reformulated in probabilistic terms - the situation in complex analysis is much more complicated. The purpose of the talk is to present a survey of the use of probabilistic methods in complex analysis from the perspective of an analyst.
