Abstract:  Different issues related to random covering sets have attracted a considerable amount of interest for many years. A random covering set is a  limsup set defined by means of a family of randomly distributed subsets of the torus.  We discuss the problem of calculating the almost sure values of Hausdorff and packing dimensions of random covering sets.
