Paul Arne Ostvar: Milnor's conjecture on quadratic forms.
John Milnor proposed two influential conjectures on Galois cohomology and quadratic forms in his 1969 paper "Algebraic K-theory and quadratic forms" (Invent. Math.). Both conjectures were solved in the affirmative by Vladimir Voevodsky and collaborators in papers published in 2003 (IHES journal) and 2007 (Annals of Math.). We propose an alternate solution to Milnor's conjecture on quadratic forms. The proof proceeds by an explicit spectral sequence computation. This is joint work with Oliver Rondigs (arXiv:1311.5833, to appear in: G&T).
