Abstract: Sufficient-component cause models postulate a set of different causal mechanisms, each sufficient to bring about a potential outcome, which is binary in this seminar. These are understood as minimal sets of actions, events or states of nature which together initiate a process resulting in the outcome. Thus each sufficient cause is hypothesized to consist of a set of binary component causes. Whenever all components of a particular sufficient cause are present the outcome occurs. We present a probabilistic sufficient-component cause model in the sense of Ramsahai (J. Royal Stat. Soc. B 2013) using a network of causes, where interaction is determined by Boolean functions. This is joint work with Daniel Berglund (KTH) .
