Johanna Kindblom: Kvaternioner

Abstract.

Quaternions were discovered by the Irish mathematician Sir William Rowan Hamilton during the 19th century. They can be seen as an extension of the complex numbers in four dimensions and this paper provides an overview over the basic rules for quaternions, how they can be used for rotations and a couple of representations of them. Also given is a proof of Frobenius Theorem of real division algebras.
