Most basic courses in PDEs, be it in numerics or in analysis, cover the classical types of equations namely elliptic, parabolic and hyperbolic linear PDEs. However, the Schrödinger equation, albeit linear, is almost always omitted. So, where does this equation fit in? Is it really a wave equation? Did it, as Feynman put it, come from nowhere but the mind of Schrödinger? What are its basic properties? How can one think about it? And what about those analogies to fluid mechanics? Come and find out in this accessible talk!
