Claes Uggla: Dynamical systems approach to quintessence

I will give an overview of recent and ongoing work by myself, Artur Alho and John Wainwright on dynamical systems formulations and use of dynamical systems techniques for dealing with spatially flat FLRW models with a perfect fluid and a minimally coupled scalar field. In particular, I will show how to obtain useful regular dynamical systems for a wide range of scalar field potentials and how the associated dynamical systems can be used to situate viable quintessence models and inflationary quintessence models in the associated complete solution spaces. I will also show how dynamical systems techniques give rise to simple and accurate approximations for various types of quintessence.
