Abstract: The purpose of this essay is to introduce the reader to spherical geometry. Firstly, the sphere is introduced by explaining concepts, theorems are proves and formulas are derived. The essay then moves on to prove the spherical equivalent to Pythagorean theorem, and furthermore the cosine theorem that is later one utilized in different examples of navigation. Finally, the essay ends with proving a formula for a triangle’s area on the sphere.
