After a much too brief introduction to topological data analysis (TDA), I will share some insights into how to write fast numerical code. In particular, I will highlight the importance of the hardware-software interaction and the role of parallelism in modern computing (including GPUs). For the talk, I will assume some basic computer science/programming knowledge (roughly on the level required for an Applied Mathematics degree at the Bachelor level). However, the talk is intended for a broad audience with an interest in high-performance computing. Any more advanced concepts will be introduced during the presentation.
