Armando W. Gutiérrez: The metric compactification of Lp spaces and some applications

Abstract: The metric compactification is a slight variation of the so-called Gromov's horofunction compactification. The former notion of compactification works for any metric space, while the latter is rather restrictive. In this talk I will present a complete characterization of the metric compactification of the classical Lp spaces in finite and infinite dimensions. By doing this, I will be able to revisit some well-known examples appearing in Ergodic Theory.
