Abstract

A staged tree model is a statistical model which can be represented by a tree. The model can be described algebraically as the variety of a homogeneous ideal. In this talk we will discuss properties of this ideal, and how they can be read off from the tree. In particular we want to understand if the ideal is toric, possibly after a linear change of coordinates.
