Kevin Smith: Almost-periodicity of zeta functions

Abstract:

Central conjectures in analytic number theory such as the Lindelöf hypothesis describe the long-term behaviour of zeta functions on vertical lines in the complex plane, which relate to the notorious problem of the distribution of their zeros. In this talk I will introduce this problem and what it has to do with dynamics on related compact spaces.
