Abstract

Modular forms play an important role in modern mathematics connecting
analysis, number theory and geometry. In this talk I intend to explain what
modular forms are and how they are connected with Riemann surfaces or
algebraic curves. I intend to show that classical invariant theory yields
an effective way to construct modular forms of higher genus.
My research on modular forms is joint work with Bergström, Clery and Faber.
